Position Description:(primary functions)
The Assistant Softball Coach supports the Head Softball Coach in all aspects of coaching,training, and managing the athletic team. This includes assisting with practice planning, game
strategy, player development, and administrative duties. The Assistant Softball Coach plays a
critical role in ensuring the success and development of student-athletes both on and off the
field.
Minimum Requirements:
This position requires dedication to the academic and athletic success of student athletes andactive community involvement to enhance the athletic program's reputation and success. The
requirements for the Assistant Softball Coach position are:
- At least a bachelor's degree
- Master’s degree in a related field is preferred
- Previous coaching or playing experience at the collegiate or high school level
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience in recruiting student athletes is preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Softball Coach are as follows:- Report to the Head Softball Coach
- Understand the softball technical and tactical aspects.
- Mentor and support student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and personal growth.
- Monitor the progress of student-athletes and provide guidance to help them achieve their potential.
- Assist in developing individualized training plans for student-athletes.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes to join the team.
- Participate in scouting and evaluating potential recruits.
- Maintain communication with recruits, their families, and high school coaches.
- Help with the organization and management of team travel, including transportation, accommodations, and meals.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of team activities, including attendance, statistics, and eligibility.
- Ensure compliance with college, conference, and national regulations.
- Assist in game day preparations, including equipment setup, warm-ups, and game strategy.
- Provide support during games, including managing substitutions, tracking statistics, and communicating with players.
- Analyze game performance and provide feedback to the head coach and team.
- Promote the athletic program within the college and the local community.
- Participate in fundraising, community service, and promotional activities.
- Represent the team and college in a professional manner at all times.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Softball Coach and Director of Athletics.
